Women's Derby Wrap-up

They came, they saw, they fished!

This past weekend 100 women from all over North America came to Painter’s Lodge for the 14^th Annual Women’s Fishing Derby.

The annual event is a favourite among the participants and the guides alike. The ladies fished a total of 3 tides over the weekend with their eyes on hooking the big one to take first prize. Believe me, there was no shortage of competition!

65 salmon were caught for a total of 987 ½ pounds reeled in by the end of the derby. Lynn Anderson of Prince George BC took home top prize with her 28 lb Chinook, Ethel Pratt came second with her 24 ½ pound salmon, and Denise Brynelsen took home the bronze for a 23 ½ beauty.
