Summer has arrived at Painter’s Lodge and April Point Resort & Spa. Clear skies and hot temperatures have made it a wonderful week. Mother’s Day was a huge success with a fabulous brunch and 10 zodiac trips leaving the dock.
Fishing is getting better and better every day, with the Lighthouse continuing to produce the most results. Our guides have had success using the popular purple haze and the fish are starting to roll in. Nina Sanderson had the biggest salmon of the week with a beautiful 21 lb Chinook. Congratulations Nina!
Both Steve Thorn and John Burmington landed 18 lb’ers and Shelly Cieszecki reeled in a 13 lb Chinook. Yesterday Jimmy Qi caught the biggest fish of the day, a 15.5 lb Chinook. This week should be even better so good luck to all anglers!
One of our new tours for 2006 has been a huge hit with guests. The highlights on the 5.5 hour Discovery Tour include a stop at a shellfish farm where you learn about the local aquaculture industry and a tour around Mitlenatch Island with the largest sea-bird colony in the strait. Be sure to ask about the next Discover Tour in the Marine Centre at Painter’s Lodge.
Our 3 hour wildlife zodiac trips have been wonderful this week. Calm seas and beautiful warm weather have made for ideal conditions in the zodiacs. Black bears, Stellar sea-lions, eagles, blue-herons and even a humpback whale have been spotted this week.
Join us at Painter’s Lodge and April Point Resort & Spa for some fun in the sun!
