Dock Talk

Sockeye Fever

Painter's Lodge and April Point Resort & Spa - August 24, 2006

Vancouver Island salmon fishingIt’s the busiest week of the year up here at Painter’s Lodge and the number of Sockeye hittin’ the dock lately is unbelievable. We can barely shut the door on the fish cooler and our dock staff are swamped with the amount of fish! Everyone is happy this week and many of our guests are limiting out.

The bite is on up north, with Brown’s, Deepwater and Green Sea bays churning out a lot of fish. Some nice sized Chinook are showing up, too. Congratulations to Zach Cannady who landed a gorgeous 30 lb’er. Chalk up another Tyee!

Whale watching has been spectacular as of late, as have our wildlife tours. Large pods of whales and black bears on the beach have impressed all of our guests on the zodiac. Come on up and book your activities while the fishing is hot and the whales are around!
