Members of the Bonnet family were some of the lucky passengers aboard today’s Whale Watch Adventure. Guided by Ed, they set off north where they stumbled upon all of the northern resident orcas. After stopping for lunch, the tour spotted 6 transients sleeping on the surface of the water just before Robson Bight at Sunderland Channel.
Congrats to Joe Stevenson who was yesterday’s random daily derby winner at Painter’s Lodge. I’ve had fun tracking down our various random winners to award them their prizes. Euan Hardgrave was hopping off an afternoon wildlife tour with his family when I gave him the news, and Joe Stevenson was returning from fishing the mid-tide. Joe fished again today and currently (the evening boats have yet to return) has the largest Chinook of the day at 15.1 lbs. If Joe ends up winning a second prize he better buy himself a lotto ticket…that’s luck!
There has been a young seal pup hanging around the dock the past few days. You can tell which one the pup is because he never strays too far from his mother. The mother is clearly already teaching her pup how to bat his eyes just right so our guides may be tempted to throw them fish guts. Silly seals!
See you in a few,
