After a brief hiatus (for my wedding and honeymoon), I am home sweet home and back at work. My apologies to those of you who have been anxiously awaiting an update! I may have missed a busy 3 weeks, but there is still much more on the horizon for us this season.
This morning Painter’s Lodge had 4 fishing boats out and an equal amount of fish brought back on them. Two boats set off this afternoon but due to a tricky tide change neither had any luck. With 9 more boats tonight, the odds are in our favour. When I asked a guide of ours, Bruce, what his fishing outlook (short and long term) was he had a simple answer; “they’re here”.
This should come as music to the ears of the many ladies joining us this weekend for our 20th Annual Women’s Derby. These ladies return year after year for the camaraderie that comes along with participating in this festive weekend. 12 hours of guided fishing, 3 nights accomodation, entertainment and prizes are included in the derby package and from what I've heard there is never a dull moment.
Caylin did a fabulous job of wrapping up last year’s festivities. Read her Reel Report and try to tell me it doesn't sound like a blast. This year’s theme is “Welcome to the Roaring 20s” and yes, my flapper costume has been ordered.
Tomorrow night I’ll be attending Jazz at the Point; an evening of local jazz music performed in the April Point Dining Room. Each Tuesday between June and September everyone is welcome to sample the live music, fresh menu and stunning view. What a unique way to jazz up your week.
While I was away, some fellow crew members of mine snapped a few photos of happenings on the Painter’s Lodge Dock. My personal favourite is the one of the baby and the fish. Too many captions come to mind!
See you in a few,
