Wow! What a beautiful weekend we’ve had up here at Painter’s Lodge. The sun is shinning ever so brightly. My farmers tan is getting worse and worse, but when you get to work at such a wonderful place, you can’t really complain.
We’ve had a variety of catches this weekend, including a couple more halibut brought to the dock. Just today there were some nice sized Ling cod. And of course a bunch of Chinook salmon, ranging in size from 7 pounds to 26 pounds.
The biggest catch this weekend was a 26 pounder caught by Denis Zentner. Good job Denis!
Every year the fishing guide who lands the biggest fish at Women’s Derby wins a trip to our Northern Resort Ships. This year, Martin Young was the fishing guide who hooked Maryann Platz her prize-winning 37 pounder. So he’s off enjoying his hard earned trip this week; hope you’re having a blast Martin, you deserve it!
The adventure tours saw two bears messing around on the beach together. The Dalhs porpoises are always out and about—they’re so much fun to watch and play with. The eagles were out in full swing up at Jimmy Judd Island, feasting on the hake.
As I write this there are whales passing through the passage, so I have to go before I miss them!
That’s all for today. Thanks for checkin’ in. Hope you have a wonderful day!
