Fall Fishing

Painter's Lodge and April Point Resort & Spa - September 14, 2005

Fall fishing is definitely here, as seen by the over 100 Pink salmon crossing the docks in the past few days. They're being caught all over: Separation Head, Deep Water Bay, Plumper Bay, Chatham Point, Greensea Bay... Plus, Deepwater and Greansea both gave up a few Sockeye to guests yesterday, and a pair of Coho were caught at Chatham Point.

A lone Chum was also bagged, out in 120′ of water at Greensea using a pink and purple hoochie, weighing a very nice 21 lbs.

The big story is the 31 lb. Tyee salmon caught by Don Rough — nice work!

All this week has been spectacular on our Wildlife Tours. Aaron, one of our naturalist-guides, reported seeing a Humpback whale in the churning waters of Seymour Narrows, plus another swarm of hundreds of Pacific White-sided dolphins. Stellar sea lions are starting to be spotted afte making their migration south, plus a pod of Killer whales near Ripple Point, heading south to Chatham.
