Today marks the beginning of Tyee Pool fishing at Painter's Lodge and April Point Resort. Tyee fishing is fishing for angling purists, and is a return to the traditional - with no motors and basic gear. Anglers use their skill to slip their rowboat into the eddies and currents of the pool, keeping a watchful eye on their line for the slightest change. The goal is to land a Tyee (a Chinook / King salmon over thirty pounds) and become a member of the prestigious Tyee Club of Canada. Campbell River is exclusive home of this precision art, drawing eager fishermen and women from around the world.
