Liz and Brett Savory were two of the 8 guests on our morning Wildlife Adventure zodiac tour. They caught a dolphin show at Deep Water Bay and the t93 transient orcas at Rebecca Spit. Their zodiac arrived back at the Painter’s Lodge dock just as the 22 morning fishing boats returned. Zodiac guests and anglers (as well as crew members) were treated to a glimpse of a passing humpback whale in Discovery Passage. I hadn’t had the best luck spotting humpbacks this season so I was glad to finally see more than just one’s spray (although that in itself is pretty magnificent). Our whale watchers are due back in less than an hour and we still have two more wildlife tours departing this afternoon.
April Point will host its last wedding of the 2012 season today. Mark and Helen chose to have their ceremony on the April Point property, then party down at Painter’s Lodge for their reception. Talk about the best of both worlds!
April Point may only be open for one more week but we have still have a lot up our sleeve. Our final jazz night is this Tuesday and we’ll wrap up everything with the wine & food event of the year; Tastes of April Point. This will be my first time at the festival of food and I cannot wait!
On a personal note, I’m also looking forward to treating my mom to breakfast at April Point this Sunday. She’s learned a lot about both resorts by reading my Reel Reports all summer but hasn’t had the chance to visit yet. I’m confident she’ll love them as much as I do.
Well, I’m off to a wedding!
See you in a few,
