Picture yourself spending the weekend with some of Western Canada’s premier professional photographers. If photography is your passion or just your pastime, this weekend will broaden your horizons, polish your skills and inspire your creativity.
Learn personal techniques from professional photographers amidst the intimate settings of workshops and panel discussions. Each photographer will proudly display their work to be viewed in our gallery.
Photography Getaway — April 25 – 27, 2008
Your photography getaway will include two nights accommodation at Painter’s Lodge in Campbell River, two full days of workshops, demonstrations, and panel discussions, as well as entrance into the photograph gallery.
You will also join the photographers at a wine and cheese reception where you can share their enthusiasm, find out more about their careers, and the industry.

Big Sky – Blair Polischuk
Join classical fine art photographer Blair Polischuk as he demystifies Ansel Adams famous quote ‘The photographic negative is like a conductors score and the print is the performance.’ He will use his 4x5 negatives, contact proofs, and silver gelatin prints as reference throughout his presentation. Topics covered will include the Zone System, pre-visualization, interpreting and measuring light for B&W, composition and presentation. If you enjoy film-based black and white photography and aspire to create radiant self-expressive images, Polischuk’s presentation will be sure to inspire.
Blair Polischuk’s work adorns walls throughout Canada, the US and Europe and has been published around the world in Black & White and Photo Life Magazines. His studio called Silverwork Studio and Gallery is a testament to the time honored tradition of film-based hand crafted black and white photography and is located just south of Courtenay on Vancouver Island.

Janet Dwyer’s photographic career spans over three decades, as a specialist photographing art for artists, galleries and museums. Also an instructor, Janet lectures at numerous colleges and art schools across Canada.
Dwyer’s personal photographic work involves object scanning, primarily of flowers. She creates engaging assemblages that capture intimate details of flowers while they mimic human gesture, physiology and expression. An internationally award-winning photographer, Dwyer’s intention is to provoke emotional response or elicit questions about familiar notions of beauty and the human condition.

His many shows of personal work speak to his own passions for the photography medium.
