Painter’s Lodge is approximately 5 km north of Campbell River, overlooking beautiful Discovery Passage. Guests driving to Painter’s Lodge can select one of several ferry routes to Vancouver Island, and then follow the Island Highway north to Campbell River. Once in Campbell River, continue along the Island Highway (Hwy 19) until you turn right on McDonald Rd. Follow McDonald Rd. about 500m to the resort (1625 McDonald Road). The approximate driving time from Nanaimo is about 1 ½ hours; 3 ½ hours from Victoria.
April Point Resort & Spa is accessible via the Quadra Island ferry located in downtown Campbell River. In Campbell River, turn right on to Highway 19A and you will see the Quadra Island ferry on your left about ten minutes down the road.
The ferry to Quadra Island departs every hour, and the schedule is available on the BC Ferries web site.
After arriving via BC Ferry you are now in Quathiaski Cove. Stay on this road (Harper Road) for approximately 1 ½ kilometers. You will come to a three way stop sign. Turn left and then immediately right on Anderson Road. Anderson turns into April Point Road. After 3.4 kilometers on this road, without turning, you are at the Front Desk Reception of April Point Resort & Spa.
If you prefer, you can also drive to Painter’s Lodge, park your vehicle there and take our free water shuttle to April Point.
Parking at both resorts is complimentary, although we cannot accommodate overnight parking of recreational vehicles.
All fly-in packages to Painter’s Lodge and April Point begin at and return to the South Terminal of the Vancouver International Airport and are operated by our air partner Pacific Coastal Airlines. After check in at Oak Bay Marine Group's counter at the South Terminal, your adventure begins with a scenic 40-minute flight to Campbell River on Vancouver Island. From the Campbell River Airport, you will be transferred by bus to the resort.
Comox Valley Airport
The Comox Valley Airport just south of Painter's Lodge is an ideal hub for visitors from the interior of BC, Alberta, and the rest of Canada.
WestJet’s air route from Calgary to Comox, makes getting to the resorts easier than ever. From Calgary, you can be at the resorts in about 2 ½ hours!
For guests travelling from Washington, direct flights to the resorts are available with Kenmore Air.
From Lake Washington take Kenmore Air’s scenic float plane service and land right at the April Point docks.
Or, if you prefer to travel from Boeing Field, Kenmore Air’s fixed-wing service flies direct to Campbell River airport. Let your reservation coordinator know your flight details and we’ll be waiting to pick you up!
You can also take the Victoria Clipper harbour to harbour from downtown Seattle to Victoria and drive up scenic Vancouver Island to the resorts.
Flight Connections in Vancouver
If you are arriving from a point other than the Vancouver/Lower Mainland area, we encourage you to arrive in Vancouver the day prior to your departure. If you will be flying home afterwards, we also recommend that you stay overnight in Vancouver on the last day of your trip. Connections could be missed due to weather, air traffic congestion or other unforeseen delays. Oak Bay Marine Group is not responsible for any such delays.
