The fish are coming in droves now! The last couple of days have shown a big jump in the average size of Chinook hitting the docks.
Jason Jonas landed our season’ss largest at 40 ½ lbs! In addition his boat reeled in a 20 ½ pounder and released some in the teens.
Congratulations to Jan Kamuro who caught a 28 lb. Chinook and Keving Shillington with an equally impressive 27 lb. Chinook that was absolute chrome.
In addition to these impressive Chinook, we're seeing Pinks, Coho and some Sockeye move into the Campbell River area.
For our returing guests the Lighthouse fishery at the south end of Quadra Island shut down on July 15th as it does each year. Most of our big fish are being caught during the flood tide in Browns Bay and Chatham Point.
Whales, bears, dolphins and big numbers of bald eagles continue to impress and excite guests on our whale watching and wildlife tours. We even managed to find two gray whales breaching in last week’s fog banks up Johnstone Straight.
Sea ya on the water,
