Painter's Lodge and April Point Resort & Spa - August 8, 2001

Great news in Campbell River as anglers can now catch and retain four types of salmon. Springs are averaging 15 lbs and continue to be brought into the boat on blue and green hootchies and gatorback hootchies. Sockeye retention began in late July and anglers are averaging 8 lbs on these beautiful fish. August 1st opened the season on clipped hatchery Coho and along with Sockeye, provide a great fight for anglers. Pound for pound, these fish are pure dynamite when hooked. As this is also a Pink year, anglers can catch and retain this salmon species, and along with the other three, Campbell River is the place to be for some great salmon fishing.
