Four Species of Salmon

Painter's Lodge and April Point Resort & Spa - September 10, 2001

September fishing has been great in the "Salmon Capital of the World" with four species of salmon being caught lately. Chinook are averaging 20 lbs with several tyees caught in recent days. The Chum run is on with anglers averaging 15 lbs with these feisty fish. Hatchery Coho are also in the area and are weighing in in the 5-14 lb range. Adding in the thick Pink run, the waters are teeming with salmon. Hot spots include Plumpers, Lighthouse, Deepwater and Green Sea. Anglers are using anchovies, sardines and herring as bait, plugs, spoons and flasher-hoochie combos as lures and fishing anywhere from 10-50 m. With warm weather over the past few days, it's been a great September!

Over the weekend, London Drugs hosted their annual Charity Retreat, holding a derby for all guests. The winner brought in a 34.5 lb Chinook on Friday. Congratulations!
