Catch Limits

Painter's Lodge and April Point Resort & Spa - August 26, 2011

A very common question for all fishermen is “what is our catch limit?” So this Reel Report is dedicated to answering that question. You are allowed to catch 4 salmon a day and have no more than 8 in your possession.

Wild Coho’s cannot be retained, they must be released.   “How do I know if my Coho is wild or hatchery?” You can tell if a Coho is hatchery if the adipose fin is missing. (See pictures)
Sockeye are retainable for a short period of time during most seasons. They are open and retainable at this time on a day-to-day basis.
You may on occasion catch a hatchery Chinook, these are retainable but the DFO does request that you return the head for studies.  This is a program that both resorts practice.
