Today and yesterday our Wildlife Tour passengers have had magnificent luck. Spotted yesterday was a mama Grizzly and her two cubs on the mainland of Vancouver Island through Bute Inlet and today they sighted black bears in the same area. Orcas and porpoises also greeted our zodiacs along their journey. Fishing continues to be excellent. It's now common to see boats back 1.5 hours early with their limit. Yesterday a return guest of Painter's Lodge, Steve from Arizona, finally caught his first Tyee. This was Steve's 6th stay with us and his fish was 30.8 lbs. –worth every minute of the fight!
You can bet that our crew has taken advantage of these fishing conditions as well. Painter’s Lodge Operations Manager, Christine Fleming, caught a 27 lb. Chinook, and our Marine Activities Manager, Dwayne Mustard, only needed 30 minutes on the water before he had luck (luck having not been on his side much lately, either).
The Tyee Pool opens this Sunday July 15th! You can be a part of this unique fishing tradition until September 15. Don't wait too long or you may miss out on the opportunity!
See you in a few,
