Painter's Lodge and April Point Resort & Spa - May 4, 2009

Welcome to the 2009 season at Painter’s Lodge and April Point Resort & Spa. We’re looking forward to a very good fishing and wildlife year in the inside passage.

Before we opened this year, our crew were getting some great whale shows. We’ve had a humpback circling Quadra Island for the last 10 days, a pod of transient Orcas have been through on a regular basis, and the harbour porpoises have been feeding in front of the April Point spa (very magical!).

The fishing guides have been out breaking in the new Yamaha motors. This is a good opportunity for them to wet the lines and see what the salmon are looking for. I’ve had some good reports of action on the south end of Quadra Island, around the Hump and the Lighthouse drift. There are also over 40 Stellar sea lions down on Middlenatch Island making all sorts of noise.

The forecast for fishing this year is very good. It’s a Pink year, our ocean survival rate has been good, and there have been some conservation efforts made north of us in recent years. There is a lot of buzz in the guiding community of what a great season this will be.

I cant wait to see everyone on the water this summer. Give us a call to start planning your trip: 1-800-663-7090.

Tight lines,
