9th Annual Photographers at Painter's

Painter's Lodge and April Point Resort & Spa - May 4, 2014

What a remarkable weekend! I can tell that both attendees and presenters are leaving with revitalized excitement for their work, leading-edge skills and techniques, and new mentors and contacts they’ll most certainly call on in the future.

Day one consisted of a variety of sessions with our professionals, covering everything from raw, unedited landscape photography to progressive app layering for iPhoneography. With two sessions happening simultaneously, it was easy for participants to select specific topics of interest, or catch bits and pieces of multiple presentations.

Amateur photographers had the opportunity to interact with our presenters during an Outdoor hands-on session, Panel Discussion, and finally during our evening Wine & Cheese reception. Throughout the day, Painter’s offered a delectable array at our breakfast and lunch buffet, and concluded with a sit-down banquet dinner for attendees to enjoy at their leisure.

Sessions proceeded on the second day with a similar diversity of topics. It was great to see that gradually more questions and discussion were taking place, with many amateurs lingering after presentations for hands-on demonstrations. After a final Outdoor session, the day culminated with an opportunity for our amateurs to have their work constructively critiqued by our professional team. Something tells me they also had a lot more to say about their own work than they did two days ago.

Saying goodbye has been bittersweet—everyone  is a little sad that it has come to an end, but also inspired and eager to apply their new-found skills. As a beginner myself, I now have a completely different perspective on the vast world of Photography. Overall, I think it’s safe to say that this year’s Photographer’s at Painters has been a huge success!

A big thank-you to all our participants and organizers who contributed to such an incredible experience. If you have even a small hunch that you may enjoy Photography, or if you have been practicing for years, I highly recommend attending next year’s Photographers at Painter’s—it is one you truly won’t want to miss.

All the best,

Kali
