Vancouver Island Fishing Report

Painter's Lodge and April Point Resort & Spa - September 12, 2005

Congratulations to Jeff Nellis for luring in a trophy 16 lb. hatchery Coho. This fish, which is definitely going in record books, was snagged up at Green Sea.

A good day for Chinook today, too. Don Clark got the second biggest of the day with his 24 lb. Chinook caught up at Brown’s Bay. Coming in first was Brian Watts with his 29 ½ lb. Chinook was caught in Area 13 (they won't tell us exactly where!).

Some other great catches include:

  • Celia Lowe — 2 Chinooks — 13 & 14 lbs. — Deepwater Bay
  • Tom de Ross — 2 Chinooks — 16 & 17 lbs. — Brown’s Bay
  • Steve Williams — 2 Chinooks — 9 & 15 ½ lbs. — Deepwater Bay
  • Ian Persinger — Chinook — 17 lbs. — Brown’s Bay

As always, Pinks are constantly hitting the dock — mostly from Plumper Bay — and it’s good to see more and more Chum biting the hooks as well. Coho aren’t as steady but definitely out there. Keep those hooks in the water!
