Wow, the summer is just whizzing by and there are only 12 weeks left in the season. So if you haven’t been up here to experience all the wonderful adventures Painter’s Lodge and April Point have to offer, you better hurry up!
Whale watching has been outstanding. Resident pods A8 and A23 (approx. 8 whales in total) have been hanging around the Nodales Channel for days. There was also a fantastic eagle show, as they were feeding on the hake up at Jimmy Judd Island. The trees are literally filled with eagles, young and old, feeding voraciously on the baitfish.
Our ocean rapid tours have been really great and lots of fun and guests on wildlife tours reported seeing some deer with their young running around on the beach.
In fishing news, we’ve had another Tyee brought to the dock. Ray Jewry caught himself a beautiful 34 lb. Chinook! He got to blow the Tyee horn, which always attracts a lot of attention to the dock.
Two of our Marine Centre staff got to experience first-hand the rush, excitement and accomplishment of catching their very first salmon. Amanda Battistoni brought in a 23 lb. Chinook and Emelia Winnig caught herself a 17 pounder! Both girls where grinning from ear to ear and would love to tell you all about it—ask them when you come up here!
So that’s what’s going on up here at the world famous Painter’s Lodge and April Point. Thanks for checkin’ in.
