The new season record was set at Painter's Lodge over the weekend as one lucky angler brought in a 37.5 lb. tyee. The bite is on for some great August fishing. Coho are also making a splash (literally) as guides report catching and releasing many in the 15-20 lb range. These fish hit aggressively, run far very fast and definitely jump more and higher than any other type of salmon. Hot spots include the Lighthouse, Deepwater and Green Sea fishing anywhere from 15 meters for Pinks and Cohos to 60 meters for the big springs. Anchovies, herring and sardines are the most common bait with anglers using flasher-hootchie combos and green gatorback hootchies as lures. All in all, a great week. Smiles all around.
