There’s so much happening at Painter’s Lodge and April Point these days that it’s getting hard to keep track of it all. Summer is almost over but both resorts are still super busy. It seems like lots of families are heading to Campbell River and Quadra Island for that final summer vacation before the kids go back to school, and we’re happy to have them!
The fishing has been great, just like it’s been all year. Our boats are bringing in buckets of pink salmon, as well as some big Chinook. Our August Heat Derby is well under way, with the biggest fish of the month weighing in at 32.2 pounds. With all those pinks out there, and some big Chinook still hanging around, anglers really can’t ask for much more.
April Point has been the place to be every Tuesday and Thursday night. Jazz at the Point takes place every Tuesday and is always a popular night for locals to travel across the water for some dinner and local music. New this year is Buck-A-Shuck oyster night at April Point every Thursday. Different oyster farmers are on-site every week shucking fresh oysters for just a dollar a piece, and the event has been a huge success.
Finally, both resorts have been host to countless weddings over the course of the summer. The oceanfront properties are the perfect location to tie the knot, resulting in weddings on both sides of the water virtually every weekend. Of course, we’re more than happy to play host to all the happy couples and it’s been a treat to be a part of such a special day.
