Septemeber 6 was another gorgeous day on the ocean. It’s been an absolutely awesome week, and Plumper Bay is still the place to be for Pinks.
Bring your prettiest pink hoochie, drop it 30 to 60 feet and let the fun begin. Some guys have even been catching them as deep as 120 feet !
If you're looking for a bit more of a challenge, Chinook are putting up some good fight. Proof comes from Dave Marlay, who brought back a 22 pounder caught in Browns Bay. Dave caught his fish at about 110 feet with a purple haze hootchie and flasher. Nice work Dave! Les Ingles was close behind with a Chinook from Browns Bay weighing in at 14.5 lbs!
When you're not out fishing for Pinks and Kings, wildlife and whale watching tours are a great option. Our wildlife tour got a show from a pod of 10 orcas today in Eve’s River. They also saw black bears on two separate occasions (three bears!) in Chancellor Channel. And to complete the Vancouver Island wildlife experience, they saw a pod of about 10 white sided dolphin!
